The Osteoporosis Action Network (OAN) is making osteoporosis care a priority

We envision a world where osteoporosis-related fractures are rare. These types of fractures can alter lifestyles, yet too many people go without the diagnosis and care they need.

The OAN is transforming osteoporosis education into action on a national level by uniting healthcare professionals, organizations, and at-risk populations. We’re closing gaps in care and helping people Stand Bone Strong.

What is the Osteoporosis Action Network?

The Osteoporosis Action Network is a coalition of medical, advocacy, and health system leaders focused on improving osteoporosis awareness and care. We’re united around a shared goal: to prevent 3 million fractures by 2033.

Together, we’re elevating recognition of the real-world barriers that stand in the way of secondary fracture prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, then addressing them by spreading awareness about osteoporosis and inspiring action.

Why should osteoporosis diagnoses
and care be a priority?

2 million

osteoporosis fractures occur each year in the U.S.1

500,000

osteoporosis fractures result in hospitalization1

83%

of people remain undiagnosed 1 year after a fracture2

88%

of people remain untreated 1 year after a fracture2

5x

how much more likely patients are to suffer another fracture within a year3

It’s time to address the barriers that impede better osteoporosis diagnosis and care.

Together we can help to close the osteoporosis care gap

Join us in working toward a future where osteoporosis-related fractures are rare.
